Key features
What is Robotics Innovation Sprint?
One business presents its innovation challenge to several innovators, who have been hand-picked in advance to match the challenge.
The innovators then present their suggested solutions to the business at a pitching event. Finally, the business decides whether to explore collaboration further.
It’s an agile process designed to meet businesses’ unique needs. Odense Robotics and its partners facilitate the process from start to finish. Together, we help businesses clarify the problem they want solved, match businesses with relevant potential partners and facilitate the pitching session.
Robotics Innovation Sprint is developed from a concept known as Reverse Shark Tank conceptualised in the Danish SDU project Innovation on Wings, which was funded by the Danish Industry Foundation.
Sygehus Sonderjylland case
"It has been a very successful innovation sprint, with a lot of activity among the participants and where we have generated a plethora of ideas that we now need to further develop. It has been interesting to be able to open our doors and describe the challenges we have in our Sterile Services department and see companies rethink the workflows we have with new technology in robotics and automation. We have become acquainted with new technology that we were not aware of before, which can address some of the challenges we face. That is probably the greatest success.”
- Thomas Nis Lorenzen, Logistics Manager at Sygehus Sonderjylland
LINAK case
"We consider the Robotics Innovation Sprint to be an optimal format providing a tense focus on delivering high-quality solutions to complex industrial processes within a sharp deadline. It's an ideal platform for combining know-how, innovative mindset and the latest within cutting-edge technologies in order to combat specific challenges in the manufacturing industry.”
- Mads Sigsgaard, Key Account Manager at Technicon, who took part in the Sprint.
Sund and Bælt case from Innovation on Wings
”We have an ambition to be the best in Europe when it comes to inspection and maintenance of bridges. No matter how much we praticed, we couldn’t get any better using our manual methods. This lead us to investigate whether we could use digital technology to reach new heights. Here we encountered a wealth of exciting start-ups, who are performing extremely strong in the newest technologies. If we had taken the normal route we wouldn’t have been presented with these solutions”
- Bjarne Jørgensen, Process Development Director, Sund & Bælt
DFDS case from Innovation on Wings
”We see great potential in the use of drones, and are convinced that with the collected data and the different drone services we will be able to optimise our business for the benefit of employees, customers and the environment. By participating we gained access to a sector and to solutions which we would otherwise never have encountered. There was great creativity, and the combination of knowledge from two strong Danish sectors shipping and drones – has opened the way for new and exciting opportunities”
- Mads Bentzen Billesø, Senior Project Manager, DFDS
Danfoss Drives case
“The Robotics Innovation Sprint has been a great success and we’ve learned a lot. We’ve gained greater understanding of the seven innovative companies who participated in the final and not least what robotic companies can offer us in general. At the same time, the robotic companies have gained a greater understanding of what our industry needs now and in the future. The companies delivered 100 percent in the workshops. They were very engaged and worked hard on quickly altering their technology to our challenge, creating better and better solutions in each iteration.”
- Martin Høgsbjerg, Head of SC Technology DK, Danfoss Drives
